Neuroscience of Spiritual Recovery – One of the nation’s leading experts on the brain and addiction explains the brain’s reward system and how it relates to drug abuse. Dr. Sack also will discuss current treatments, how they work and their limitations, and will offer insight into the neuroscience and treatment of impulsivity, memory and empathy as applied to addictive disorders.

Objectives –

  1. Explain the brain reward system and its relationship to drugs of abuse.
  2. Explain how current treatments work and the limitations of those treatments.
  3. Describe the neuroscience of impulsivity, memory and empathy as applied to addictive disorders.

(1.5) Continuing Education Hours provided by Elements Behavioral Health:

Elements Behavioral Health has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education provider. (ACEP #6580) Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. Elements Behavioral Health is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs. Elements Behavioral Health is an approved provider for NAADAC (NAADAC Approved Education Provider Program No. 624). Elements Behavioral Health is approved by the APA (American Psychological Association) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Elements Behavioral Health maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This program, when attended in its entirety, is available for ( 1.5 ) continuing education credits. Participants should check with their respective State Boards to confirm acceptance of these credits.
